Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today termed as an "extra judicial killing" the death of Sarabjit Singh after a brutal assault in a jail in Pakistan and accused the UPA government of not showing its "strength" in dealing with the issue.
"I directly blame the government of Pakistan for the murder of Sarabjit Singh. It is an extra judicial killing," Modi told an election rally here in the second lap of his tour to Karnataka for the May five Assembly polls.
Modi said in every country of the world, prisoners in jails "have fights, there are troubles. But incidents like this never happen in the cell where death row convicts are lodged. Such prisoners are always kept in isolated cells. No fights take place in such cells."
He said Indian government had all the time to mobilise a world opinion on the issue but "the Delhi government" left the matter to Sarabjit's family themselves to handle it. "When his sister was crying for her brother, government did not show its strength. It is a weak government.
