IT officer, advocate arrested by CBI in bribery case

The CBI has arrested an income tax officer and an advocate in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a bribery case, the agency said here today.

Income tax officer, Sanjay Jain, posted at Badpur in Farrukhabad, and advocate Pramod Sharma were allegedly caught while receiving the bribe, the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) claimed.

The agency said that it received a complaint that the accused officer had been demanding a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh for settling an income tax case.

A case was registered against both the accused. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 1.50 Lakh from the complainant, the CBI said.
 

Immediately after the arrest, searches were conducted at the premises of the accused in Farrukhabad and Kanpur, it said.
