An income tax official was arrested by the CBI here today while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the Managing Director of a hospital here.
Khatima's Income Tax Officer A K Singh was caught by CBI sleuths while taking a bribe of Rs one lakh from the Managing Director of Guru Ramdas Hospital, Sardar Kashmir Singh Mehrok, CBI Inspector Tej Prakash Dururani said.
Mehrok had lodged a complaint in this regard on January 8 saying that the ITO had demanded Rs 2 lakh from him in return for disposing of an alleged IT department notice against him, the official said.
Singh was arrested while taking Rs one lakh as advance from Mehrok.
