Italian Ambassador to India Daniele Mancini today called on Chief Minister N.Rangasamy.
Official sources described as a courtesy call the envoy's meeting with the Chief Minister.
The meeting lasted more than 30 minutes, they said.
Manchini was accompanied by Dr Sauro Mazzetti, Chairman of the Regional Committee, Chennai of Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce.
