Raja Sastrigal, who taught the 23-strong group 'Rudram, Chamakam, Sri Suddham and Upanishads,' among other lessons of the ancient scripts in Sanskrit, said they had already undergone coaching under him during his visit to Italy some years ago and today's programme was a follow-up.

The group comprised engineers, doctors, teachers and other professionals besides young students. They were in the age group of 15 to 50 and included some women also, he said.

Appreciating the proper pronunciation of Sanskrit terms and phrases by them, he said, "I am really glad that they could chant the mantras as much as a learner in India would do."

The team would come again some months or a few years later to have more intensive practice, he added.

All rituals related to the schedule of teaching the aspirants were also performed, including sprinkling of the 'kalasa theertham' (holy water) at the end of the training which lasted three hours.
