'We are happy with the decision. The marines will definitely come back,' Italian Ambassador to India Giacomo Stanfelice told reporters here soon after Justice P Bhavadasan passed orders on the petitions of marines Latore Massimilliano and Salvatore Girone.
The modification of the bail order was made possible through efforts not only at the judicial level, but also through diplomatic level, he said.
The two marines were arrested from Italian merchant vessel 'Enrica Lexie' on February 19 for allegedly shooting down two Indian fishermen off Alapuzha coast four days earlier. The court had earlier granted them bail and ordered them to stay here.
The Ambassador and Italy Consul General, who were present during the hearing on the petitions, would submit necessary documents before the trial court in Kollam tomorrow.
