Italy's Renzi calls Putin to denounce 'intolerable escalation'

Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU, today called Russian President Vladimir Putin to warn of "very serious consequences" after reports that Moscow has sent troops into Ukraine.

The premier said the "entry of Russian troops into Ukraine" is "an intolerable escalation which will lead to very serious consequences".
