ITBP DG meets Arunachal CM, discusses security issues

Director General of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force Krishna Chaudhary along with Inspector Generals ITBP R K Saini and R K D Singh called on Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki here this evening.

During the meeting, various issues pertaining to security, land acquisition and civic actions were discussed, an official release said.

Tuki requested the DG to conduct recruitment rallies in the state so that more youths of the state get opportunity to be recruited in the force.

The DG said the force would initiate steps to ensure that maximum recruitment rallies were conducted in the state, the statement said.
 

"We are providing 40 per cent reservation for local youths," Chaudhary said, seeking the support and help of Tuki in convincing the Union Home Ministry for replacing the quota for Schedule Caste and Other Backward Caste of the state with Schedule Tribe for Arunachal Pradesh in the backdrop of no OBCs or SCs available in the state.

The DG further said that the ITBP was going to open up new border outposts and deploy more battalions in the state to guard the international border and also supplement the state police force in maintaining law and order, the release said.

He urged upon the Chief Minister to manage land for setting up of the Inspector General's office in the vicinity of the state capital.

Assuring all possible help, the Chief Minister asked the ITBP to build up cordial relations with the people in addition to guarding the border and maintaining law and order and suggested for strengthening the border posts, it said.

While lauding the force for its activeness and readiness during exigencies, Tuki batted for a dedicated helicopter for the force and assured he would take up the matter with the Centre, the release said.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, Principal Secretary, Home, Dharmendra Sharma, DGP S Nityanandam, Commissioner to CM, Thajom Talo and ITBP Commandant Ajay Pal Singh among others, the release added.
