ITBP jawan kills self in Chhattisgarh

An ITBP jawan allegedly committed suicide today by shooting himself with his service rifle, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred in the morning in the Naxal-affected Manpur area of the district, which is about 100-km away from the district headquarters of Rajnandgoan.

The deceased has been identified as the 45-year-old Rajendra Singh, who hailed from Himachal Pradesh. He shot himself at around 10 A.M. While he was on duty at the Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp in Manpur.

The reasons which prompted Singh to take the extreme step are being ascertained, police said, adding that the family members of the deceased have been informed about the tragedy.
