ITBP to take more steps for women empowerment

Paramilitary force ITBP, which had recently decided to deploy it's women troops at front line areas of China border, will take more and more steps for the betterment of its women personnel and staff in the coming days.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police Director General, Krishna Chaudhary said this today while receiving a national award for gender empowerment here in the run up to the International Women's Day on March 8.

The DG dedicated the award to the women troops, a few of whom accompanied her to the dais for receiving the award.

The award, given by an NGO, was given to the force for ensuring safety, security and well being of its women staff.
 

The about 80,000 personnel strong border guarding force has an estimated 2,000 women in its ranks for rendering operational and administrative tasks.
