ITIs to have solar power plants: J-K Minister

Solar Power Plants will be installed in 17 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Jammu and Kashmir at a total cost of Rs 32.20 crore to ensure round-the- clock power supply to these technical institution, Minister of State for Technical Education Vikar Rasool said today.

The Minister said that government is committed to make maximum use of this technology and various public institutions and other technical institutions are being provided this facility.

Rasool was inaugurating a 66.24 KW capacity Solar Power Plant constructed at a cost of Rs 1.62 crore at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), R S Pura, here.

He inspected the workshop and Power Grid Station at Miran Sahib and reviewed the pace of work done on repairing damaged transformers, an official spokesman said.
 

Rasool ordered suspension of three technicians of Power Development Department here as they were found absent from duty.
