Itron plans to double workforce at Bengaluru centre in 2 yrs

American technology and service company Itron plans to double workforce over the next two years at its software centre here.

The centre, established in 2013, employs 240 people.

The centre aims to be one of the world's leading development centres for innovativesoftware and firmware solutions that enable utilities and cities to manage energy and water more resourcefully, Itron said in a release.

With access to highly skilled software engineers in Bengaluru, the centre will focus on software application development to support smart cities and smart grid deploymentsglobally, the company added.

"With India's immense talent pool, we believe we can build a sustainable future with the latest innovations, a commitment to quality and a shared passion for responsible resource management," Itron Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Tom Deitrich said.
