Ivory recovered from train passenger

At least 12 ivory pieces were recovered from a passenger in Guwahati railway station by GRP while he was travelling on Dibrugarh-Howrah Indrani Express today.

The ivory of various sizes weighing eight kg with an estimated value of Rs six lakh in the international market was seized from the passenger, official sources said.

The man was travelling from Hojai in central Assam's Nagaon district to Kolkata with the banned items.

Investigations are on and the man is being interrogated, the sources added.
