J-K: 222 arrested in one year for illicit liquor trading

Nearly 76,000 kilograms of booze was also destroyed in the drive against trading of spurious alcohol, Excise Commissioner Vineeta Gupta said, adding that a total penalty of Rs 27.23 lakh was also imposed on the offenders.

Around 4,091 bottles of Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 9,400 cubic feet of willow clefts were seized and penalties worth Rs 19.13 lakh were imposed at the Lakhanpur transit point alone, where the state shares border with Punjab, she said.
