J&K assembly speaker announces BAC for budget session

Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly speaker Kavinder Gupta today announced the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) for the budget session, scheduled to start here from May 25.

The members of the newly-constituted committee include Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs A R Veeri, MLAs Mian Altaf Ahmed, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, M Y Tarigami, Vikar Rasool, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and Rajesh Gupta, an official spokesperson said.

MLAs Rajeev Jasrotia and Bashir Ahmed Dar will be special invitees to BAC, he said.

The speaker has convened a meeting of leaders of various political parties and Chief Whips in the Assembly Secretariat on May 23.
 

He has also convened a meeting of the press advisory committee on the same day to discuss arrangements for hassle-free media coverage of the Budget Session, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of State Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today met with the officers of police and civil administration to discuss the arrangements put in place for the session.

Discussions were held on issues regarding security and other related matters, the spokesperson said.

SSP Security Civil Secretariat briefed the meeting about the arrangements made in and around the Legislature Complex and areas used by the Legislators.

Later, the Chairman along with concerned officers inspected the Council Hall and directed authorities to complete its renovation well before the session, the spokesperson said.
