Lauding the Centre's decision on equitable distribution of relief for migrants from both Jammu and Kashmir regions, state BJP today appealed to the state government to immediately initiate the process of registration of the Jammu migrants families for the purpose.

"The demand pertaining to the migrants from militancy-affected areas of Jammu region of getting assistance from the government at par with the migrants from Kashmir region, remained unheard and ignored by the previous governments despite directions from the Supreme Court and stands resolved with BJP-led NDA taking over the reins at the centre", claimed BJP state spokesperson, Virender Gupta.

Speaking to reporters here today, he said that Centre as well as state's PDP-BJP coalition is trying all possible means to address the long-pending and genuine demands of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"In a recent Cabinet Meeting of the Union government, decision on package for the migrants of Jammu region was announced wherein apart from the usual ration, a person of the migrant family shall get Rs 2500 which is subject to maximum of Rs 10000 per month per family", he said.

"The state unit of BJP welcomes this decision and assures to take up the other issues of the migrant families with the state as well as central government and appeals to the state government to initiate the process of registration of the migrants families of Jammu region and of providing relief to the families as announced by the central government", Gupta said.

Commenting on the package for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Chamb displaced persons as announced by the Prime Minister, the BJP spokesperson assured that the state and the central governments are committed to the 'one time settlement' policy and the money shall not be allowed to come in the way as promised by the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi).

However, he said that state BJP requests the Jammu and Kashmir government to get registered the genuine families left out who so far have not been registered, and also asks the rehabilitation department of the state to put registered families on its website.

Gupta said that present state government has been working on its principals of equitable development of all the regions of the state and put the state on the track of progress and prosperity.
