The Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP today announced to take out a five-day yatra from October 2 in favour of the demands of war refugees in the state.

"The Refugee Adhikaar Yatra will commence from October 2 from Keerian Gandyal village of Kathua district to highlight the aspirations and demands of the community, whom both the Central and state governments have ignored for a long time," BJP state General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia said here.

The yatra will cover 50 villages where the refugees are settled besides three districts of Kathua, Samba and RS Pura before ending in Jammu on October 6, he said.

Briefing about the motive of the yatra, Jasrotia said that refugees have been deprived of their rights and the party has decided to highlight them.

Jammu region has about 10-12 lakh war refugees, he said.
