Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Navreh and Navratra and prayed for communal harmony, peace, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the State.
Governor NN Vohra also congratulated people and said that Navratra have special significance for the devotees who visit the cave shrine of Vaishno Devi in large number during this period.
He also extended warm greetings to all the people who celebrate the day as Navreh and Navroze, the beginning of the New Year and onset of spring.

The festival of Navreh, was today celebrated across Jammu with religious fervour and gaiety as people in large number paid their obeisance at various temples across the city.
"Navreh marks the first day of the Saptrshi Era, today is the first day of the New Year as per this calendar," Veerji a Kashmiri pandit said.
"It is a very significant festival in the culture of Kashmiri Pandit community as prior to their exodus from the Kashmir valley they used to gather in large number at the temple at Hari Parbat to pay their obeisance there," he said.
Post their exodus the community continue to observe the festival in the traditional way by following the ritual of "Thaal Bharun."
The festival also marked the beginning of the nine day long Hindu festival of Navratra which is celebrated across Jammu region with traditional zeal.
