Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today directed the police to maintain vigil at important installations and places such as tunnels and religious centres in the state.
She issued the direction in a meeting with district superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy inspector generals (IGPs) of the Jammu provincehere.
The chief minister also expressed concern over rising crimes against women and sought a detailed feedback from the SPsabout the functioning of women police stations set up last year in the province, an official spokesman said.

The Jammu and Kashmir police has been directed to maintain continued vigil at vital installations such as tunnels, religious places and communally sensitive areas in the state, the spokesman said.
The chief minister asked police officials to constitute grievance cells at their offices, and follow-up and close cases.
Mufti also asked the DGP to furnish details of pending assistance to wards of police personnel killed in the line of duty.
In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh stressed that the police should ensure close coordination with other security agencies.
