Congress has requested the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure adequate compensation for the farmers, whose paddy crops were destroyed in the flash floods in Samba district.

Party leader Manjit Singh, while speaking here today, also sought contructions of embankments along Devak and Basantar rivers to deal with the flood challenge.

"We appeal to the state government to give relief to farmers whose paddy crop has been damaged due to flash floods in Brota, Kamoor Camp, Kamore villages and other adjoining areas of Samba district," Singh said.

He said river water also washed away link roads, due to which villagers as well as the BSF personnel are facing difficulties in commuting.
