Jammu and Kashmir government has designated State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as the State Food Commission under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
As per the notification issued by the Secretary, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD), the government has designated State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, commonly known as State Commission, as the State Food Commission for the purpose of exercising powers under section 16 of National Food Security Act 2013.
The state will implement NFSA from February 1 and has begun a massive drive to enroll more than 1.19 crore beneficiaries.

As many as 74.13 lakh people from poor and marginalised sections of the society will be provided ration at highly- subsidised rates -- Rs 2 per kg for 'atta' and Rs 3 per kg for rice.
Another 45 lakh people will be provided 'atta' at Rs 8 per kg and rice at Rs 10 per kg.
