J&K DGP asks security agencies to remain extra vigilant

Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police K Rajendra Kumar today expressed concern over the increasing infiltration bids and the lurking possibility of the ultras having sneaked into the state, as he asked the security agencies to remain extremely vigilant at the border areas and the hinterland.

Kumar, who visited the border areas of Jammu today, asked police and BSF officers to remain extremely vigilant both at the borders as well as in the hinterland to foil the designs of the terrorists to disturbpeaceandtranquilityin Jammu region, a police spokesman said.

The DGP asked the officers to launch cordon and searchoperations in areas adjoining the border to clear the areaofany suspected movement apart from strengtheningthe intelligence network to generateactionableinputs to neutralize the terrorist threats.
 

The DGP was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (Jammu) Danesh Rana and Inspector General of BSF D K Upadhyay, along with other senior police officers.

Kumar visited themost affected border villages falling under the jurisdiction of Abdullian and Shamka respectively, where heavy firing from across the borderis going on due to which some villagers have been affected and were evacuated to safer places.

The DGP during his visit of R S Pura Sector also interacted with BSF jawans and felicitated them and found their morale high.

He appreciated the valour of giving the befitting reply to unprovoked and continuous ceasefire violations from across the border.

The BSF and other officers who were present on spot briefed the DGP about the current border situation.

After making an assessment of the situation, the DGP asked police and BSF personnel to synergies their effortsand fully ensure the safety and security of the local population.

Kumar also visited camps of border villages at ITI College and City Middle School in R S Pura, andtook stock of the measures for the safety and security of these people.
