The Jammu and Kashmir director general of Police today said that an all weather communication network was necessary for the state police to ensure quick response to exigencies.

"Besides conventional system of communication, a reliable and trusted alternate mechanism should be put in place to act swiftly in case of any calamity," K Rajendra Kumar said while inspecting the Hi-Tech Dial 100 System established in Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu today.

Rajendra said that with the introduction of the system, response time for redressal of grievances has been reduced besides helping to minimise crime and provide security to the people.

The DGP informed that 40 PCR vans have been included in the advanced system for Jammu City and its adjoining areas for meeting any exigency and grievance of the people.

"Movement of vehicles is also monitored through new system and global positioning system (GPS) that is also installed in the Hi-Tech Dial 100 System," he said.

The DGP convened a meeting of officers and discussed important issues regarding improving communication networking in the Zone.

He said that in view of the recent terror attacks at Udhampur and Pathankot, strong communication system has become more imperative to tackle the situations more efficiently and ensure security of the people.

He said that it has been experienced that during exigencies particularly in calamities, conventional network does not work properly, disrupting the communication system and creating panic among the masses.

"In such situation, alternate system of communication should be put in place to ensure quick response towards the public calls for their help," he said.

Rajendra said that the new Hi-Tech System has been introduced to cater to the demands of the force to provide better services to the people and detect crimes within minimum possible time.

He asked the officers to monitor working of the system and ensure improvements by introducing new technologies.

He assured that all assistance would be provided by Police headquarters to make it result-oriented.
