J-K DGP reviews security situation in south Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir DGP S P Vaid today reviewed the security situation in south Kashmir and asked officers to continue to coordinate with security agencies for fighting militancy in the state.

The director general of police (DGP) was briefed on the overall security situation in the region and the strategy being adopted to continue the fight against militants and other crimes in a high-level meeting, a spokesman said here.

The state's police chief also stressed on the need to coordinate with all security agencies to deal with militants and other anti-national elements, he said.

The DGP also addressed a gathering of police personnel where he said he was proud of the excellent work done in Kulgam and in the south Kashmir region, the spokesman said.
 

During his interaction with citizens of Kulgam, Vaid hailed the support of the people in the fight against drugs and also sought their assistance in curbing other social crimes in the district.

He promised to look into the grievances put forth by the people attending the meeting, the spokesman said.
