Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh today called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him various issues concerning the state.
During the 20-minute meeting, the deputy chief minister apprised the home minister of the prevailing security and political situation in the state, official sources said.
Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed violence during the April 9 bypoll to the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat in which eight people lost their lives.

The Election Commission had also cancelled the May 25 bypoll to the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat, saying the situation there was not feasible for holding election.
The Valley witnessed a bout of student protests last month which started after an alleged incident of police high- handedness at Pulwama Degree College on April 15.
