Jammu and Kashmir government has realised nearly Rs 313 crores tax revenue upto July this year, over Rs 48 crores more than last year during the same period, an excise official said today.
"Excise and Taxation Department has realized Rs 312. 96 crore revenue till July this year", Excise Commissioner, J&K Government, Tsering Wangchuk said.
"Upto July, 2016-17, the department has realized an amount of Rs 312.96 crores as against Rs 264.07 crores upto July, 2015-16", he said.

The Excise Commissioner appreciated the comprehensive drive launched by the excise department to curb the menace of illegal smuggling of liquor, illicit distillation and other violations of the J&K Excise Act.
He stressed for ramping up of enforcement activities especially with regard to narcotics and cannabis cultivation, in view of the hooch tragedies in some states.
He said that nakas (check posts) were laid on various national highways to check the toll-evasion and smuggling of illicit liquor. A recovery of an amount of Rs 1.74 lakh as fine money was made during the period, he said.
Simultaneously, 299 raids have been conducted in entire Jammu division to crackdown on illegal smuggling of liquor from other states, illicit distillation of liquor and other violations, he said.
Eleven persons have been arrested so far with cases lodged in various courts of law for liquor related offences, he said.
About ten tonnes of Lahan (a powder) used for making illicit liquor, has also been destroyed in the entire Jammu division by the excise sleuths who have conducted surprise raids in various areas, he added.
505 bottles of illicit liquor have also been destroyed on spot, he added.
