J-K govt appointed 2604 RET teachers in 2012

As many as 2,604 RET teachers were engaged and 4,300 RET teachers regularised during this period besides completion of 2,849 primary buildings in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said here yesterday.

Releasing the achievement of the state government in the education sector, he said over a dozen new colleges were approved and university campuses were opened at Leh and Kargil.

Till December last year, foundation of half a dozen colleges have been laid, an equal number inaugurated and 630 new primary schools opened. A total of 672 primary schools were upgraded and 15 model cluster schools established during a span of nearly past four years, he said.

 

Also, as many as 526 middle schools have been upgraded to high schools and 306 high schools strengthened besides covering 281 schools under safe drinking water supplying programme.

According to the spokesman, 18 new poly-technics have been established during the last four years including two poly-technics that were established in Rajouri and Awantipora last year.

Around 1,412 students were admitted in different courses in 16 polytechnics, he added.

More than 1,650 persons were trained under various vocational trades including 880 female candidates, he added.

As many as 1,396 ITIs brought under upgradation scheme. Under Skill Development Programme 9,583 youths have been trained in and outside the state while 274 TPs have been established to train the youth in various modules, spokesman said.

Jammu and Kashmir has won 50 gold medals, 82 silver medals and 88 bronze medals in different sports during the last four years.
