Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed a reputed advertising agency to manage media planning for promotion of the state tourism across the world.
The department has appointed a reputed Ogilvy and Mathur (O&M) Private Limited- a New Delhi based advertising agency to manage media plans of the tourism department for its promotion, Minister for Tourism G A Mir said in a written reply to the question of Peer Afat Ahmed in Legislative Assembly.
A promotional film has been prepared which would telecast on different national and satellite channels at different intervals of time with an aim for promotion of the tourism, he said.

Besides this, organising local festivals and sporting events some of these have become annual regular features attracting tourists from other states, he said, adding the department is also sponsoring some events like Mughal Rally, Rafting championship, golf championship and trekking expeditions.
The government is also organising familiarisation trips of tour operators, travel agents and media persons from time to time in order to project the tourism in J&K, he said.
The tourism Minister said that road shows are held in association with trade, travel and media in target cities like Pune, Bangalore, Indore, Ahmedabad and Calcutta.
The government is also using social media for promotion of tourism apart from print media advertisements, editorial in leading newspapers on tourism and trips of media to various locations.
