J&K govt appoints Reyaz Ahmad Jan as Advocate General

Jammu and Kashmir government today appointed senior lawyer of J&K High Court Reyaz Ahmad Jan as the new Advocate General of the state.

The Cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, approved the appointment of advocate Reyaz Ahmad Jan as the Advocate General of Jammu & Kashmir State, an official spokesman said here today.

Jan has been designated as senior advocate with effect from March 28, 2012 in J&K High Court.

State Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said that the government today decided to have an Advocate General.

"The cabinet has decided to appoint Riyaz Ahmed Jan as the advocate general of the state," he said.
 

Omar Abdullah government had appointed Muhammad Ishaq Qadri as the Advocate General of the state in 2009.

He had recently resigned but asked to continue till further orders from the government.
