J-K govt approves Rs 71 cr for house collapse repair

Jammu and Kashmir government has approved Rs 71 crore for cases pertaining to total collapse of houses in the recent devastating floods in Kashmir Division and 80 per cent of the amount has been disbursed to the affected families.

This was informed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir in a high level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today to take stock of relief and rehabilitation process underway for the flood affected people, an official spokesman said.

Omar said assessment of losses should be made quickly and directed deputy commissioners concerned to speed up the process by pressing into service more revenue teams.
 

He also directed Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar to ensure that teams of Revenue Department constituted for the purpose reach every affected household to record the magnitude and nature of losses to property.
