Jammu and Kashmir government today asked the hitherto absent employees to immediately report for work at their offices which have now reopened after remaining closed for several days due to massive floods that ravaged the state.

"According to General Administrative Department, the employees of the state government who have not resumed their duties till date are directed to report at their respective places of postings immediately," an official spokesman said.

If the employees fail to report for work, they shall be treated as absent from duties and necessary action as warranted under rules shall be taken against them, the spokesman said.

The drawing and disbursing officers were directed not to draw the salaries for the month of September in favour of such employees, who fail to report for duties by tomorrow, he said.

The administrative Secretaries were asked to furnish the details of delinquent employees to the General Administrative Department by Monday, the spokesman said.

Most of the government offices in Kashmir Valley remained closed for nearly two weeks due to devastation caused by the floods.

However, most of the offices have now reopened at their original locations except for those located in inundated areas.
