Jammu and Kashmir government is committed to address the issues of daily wagers and contractual employees engaged in different departments in the state, in a phased manner, a minster said here today.

"Government was committed to address the issues of daily wagers, CP workers and contractual working in different departments in a phased manner", Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma said addressing a day-long convention organised by the J&K National Trade Union Front at the Auditorium of Polytechnic College.

He said government's financial position is well known to the employees, but still efforts are being made to mitigate their problems.

The Minister said over 26,000 manpower has been engaged alone in PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department during the past two decades to make operational various PHE and irrigation schemes across the state.

He said these workers are performing their duties regularly and they deserve regularisation.

The regularisation of such workers is a policy issue and government will take an appropriate decision on the issue, he added.
