J-K govt considering raise in pension of former MLAs: Minister

The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said it was mulling an enhancement in medical allowance for former legislators and revision in their pension.

Government is considering enhancement in medical allowance for former legislators from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 and revision in their pension, Minister for State Technical Education, Power and Information, Vikar Rasool, informed the Legislative Council here.

Rasool was replying to the resolution moved by Congress MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga, seeking revision in the pension of former legislators be made effective from the date such increase was made in the salary of sitting MLAs with an increase in their medical allowance.
 

The resolution was seconded by Congress legislator Ali Mohammad Dar. However, the resolution was withdrawn by the member after the reply from the minister.
