Press Trust of India Jammu
Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasaba (BGM) today alleged that Jammu and Kashmir government was depriving the tribal communities as it has failed to convince the Centre to release the funds under Special Central Assistance (SCA).

"The government has failed to live up to the expectations of the downtrodden tribal communities, as it has failed to convince the Central government to get the funds released under SCA to Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) and Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India thereby depriving the community of their due share," BGM state president Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal said here.

He added that the government's reply regarding details of expenditures and beneficiaries of funds under SCA and TSP and Article 275, is in itself a testimony that it is least bothered about the welfare of tribal communities.

"The government in its reply said that it has not received funds under SCA to TSP instead the funds have been provided in Lump-Sum. If the state government doesn't have funds in its kitty, how will it work for the betterment of tribal communities?" Poswal asked.

He alleged that the government's reply regarding the details of beneficiaries under SCA to TSP lacked transparency.

"The government did not mention the details of beneficiaries saying that the information is 'voluminous'. There are no beneficiaries so how could the government give the details," he said.
