'J&K govt disposed off 2,298 public grievances out of 6,261'

Jammu and Kashmir government today said it has disposed off 2,298 out of 6,261 public grievances received by all ministers in the state during last two years.

As many as 6,261 cases of public grievances were received by all the ministers in the state during last two years, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also minister for general administrative department (GAD), said in a written reply to question of BJP MLA R S Pathania in the state assembly.

The highest number of 1,203 public grievances have been received by PHE, irrigation and flood control department, followed by education ministry with 767 such grievances, 728 by housing and urban development department, 638 grievances by animal husbandry department, 541 by home department, 482 in public works department, 356 in labour and employment department, 321 by transport department, 264 in rural development department and 207 in social welfare department, she said.
 

Out of these, 1,170 such grievances have been disposed off by PHE, irrigation and flood control department, 457 by public works department, 317 by transport department, 187 by animal husbandry department, she said.

As per the data released in the House, no case has been disposed out of 541 cases of home department, 767 cases of education department are still pending for disposal, 116 cases in finance department, 356 cases in labour and employment department, 152 cases in power development department, 264 cases pending in rural development department and 207 cases pending in social welfare department.

The chief minister said that if a delay is noticed the same gets resolved in coordination with the nodal officers appointed by the department for this purpose.

She said that the CM Grievance Cell has been made functional where any person can register his grievance through telephone numbers and a hassle-free mechanism has been put in place in the cell where grievances and complaints lodged are delivered to the department concern.

The nodal officers have already been designated to take appropriate action for redressal of grievances and all the administrative secretaries are holding regular meetings to review the disposal of complaints, she said.
