J-K govt formulating new irrigation schemes for orchards

The scheme will be executed during the current Five Year Plan.

"Government is contemplating to irrigate orchards and karewas in the state in a big way. For this purpose, 2,000 irrigation schemes are being formulated which would be executed during the current five year plan," state Irrigation Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din said yesterday.

He said the move aims to give a boost to the state's horticulture industry, which has a great employment potential adding that Rs 2,000 crore have been earmarked for the completion of these irrigation schemes.
