Alleging that the NC government had failed in maintaining the "sanctity of an institution like BOPEE", JD(U) today accused the state of playing with the future of meritorious students.

Lamenting that meritorious students were the worst victims of the Board of Professional Entrance Exams (BOPEE) exam paper leak scam, JD(U) state president Ghulam Qadir Wani asked how they would get justice "as the sanctity of BOPEE is eroded, and illegal means were adopted to accommodate undeserving students".

"This government is always playing with the future of those students who are capable," he said, adding that the state government had failed to save and keep transparency in institutions, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Exams.

"This scandal has not just brought out the worst practices followed by government institutions but it establishes beyond doubt the direct complicity of this government in the scam and we don't know how many such scams would be made public in future," Wani charged.

Crime Branch has arrested a BOPEE official and some middlemen in connection with allegations that examination papers for Common Entrance Test (CET) 2012 were sold for hefty sums to some candidates.
