The Jammu and Kashmir Government today demanded that the Gojjri language be included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, thereby giving it the status of an official language.
Efforts were afoot for setting up of Gojjri departments in Kashmir and Jammu Universities, Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf said.
"State Government has already recommended to the Centre the case of inclusion of Gojjri language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution, while as efforts are on for setting up Gojjri Departments in Kashmir and Jammu Universities," he said in a function at Lambari in Rajouri.
Altaf said Gojjri language is not only spoken in J-K, but is also used for communication in several parts of the sub-continent.
