J-K govt releases Rs 6.50 cr for wages of PDD workers

The Jammu and Kashmir government today released Rs 6.50 crore to clear the outstanding wages of daily wagers and casual labourers engaged in Power Development Department (PDD).

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah informed the Assembly that the government has released Rs 6.50 crore to clear the outstanding wages of daily wagers and casual labourers engaged in PDD.

Replying to a Calling Attention Notice of CPI(M) member M Y Tarigami, the Minister said on the advise of the Finance Department, the government is considering the eligibility and genuineness of daily wagers, casual labourers to whom the payment has to be made.
 

The government will scrutinise the documents to ascertain the eligibility of such casual labourers according to the guidelines issued from time to time.

The process for regularisation will be completed within a period of two months. As regards the other workers, the process will be initiated and necessary orders will be issued after completion of verification, the Minister said.
