Jammu and Kashmir government today sought early release of funds from the Centre to carry out various flagship programmes and centrally assisted projects in the state.
The demand for release of funds was made by state Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday during his video conference with Union Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, an official spokesman said.
Khanday and his team of administrative secretaries held detailed discussions on pending developmental issues with Seth through the video conference, which lasted for about three hours, he said.
"Today's meeting is part of a continuous effort to resolve all pending issues between the state and Centre and is scheduled to continue for tomorrow as well," the spokesman said.
He said, substantial progress has already been achieved with most developmental issues resolved since the Union Cabinet Secretary's last visit to the state.
Giving an overview of pending issues in various Union Ministries for quite sometime now, Khanday highlighted the need for their early clearance by the Centre and release of funds to carry forward various flagship programmes and centrally assisted projects in the state, the spokesman said.
Issues taken up during today's meeting covered power sector, water resources, wetland management, road sector, tourism sector, civil aviation, science and technology and agriculture sector, he added.
