As part of its efforts to save the famous Dal lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir government has setup an 11-member panel for preservation and protection of the water body.
"Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a (11 member) Monitoring committee for preservation and protection of Dal lake in Srinagar city (in Kashmir)," Under Secretary, General Administrative Department (GAD) Imteeaz Kacho said today.
The panel would be headed by the Chief Secretary B R Sharma and Chairman of Lakes and Waterways development Authority (LAWDA) would be its member secretary, he said.

The other members are Financial Commissioner Planning and Development department B B Viyas, DGP Jammu and Kashmir Rajendra Kumar, Divisional Commissioner and IG of Kashmir division, Principal Secretary Forest department, Commissioner/Secretaries of Finance, Housing and Law departments apart from Secretary Tourism department.
The committee shall devise a permanent mechanism for preserving and protecting the Dal lake and shall monitor and oversee the implementation of this mechanism, Kacho said.
