J&K govt shifts SSP Budgam following violence during bypoll

Jammu and Kashmir government today shifted the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Budgam, which was rocked by violence during the April 9 bypoll to Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

An order was issued by the state home department transferring five Superintendents of Police, including SSP Budgam Abdul Waheed Shah who has been replaced by2008- batch IPS officer Tejinder Singh.

"Shah is transferred and posted as AIG Buildings Police Headquarter in place of SSP Javid Ahmad Koul," Mushtaq Ahmad, deputy secretary to the government, Home Department, said in the order.

The development came following violence during the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat bypolls on April 9 in which five people lost their lives in Budgam and scores were injured in firing and stone-pelting.
 

Tejinder Singh, who was with CID, has been posted as SP Budgam.

Rahul Malik (IPS-2009), awaiting orders of posting in Police Headquarter, has been made SP Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Counter Insurgency (CI), Jammu in place of Tejinder Singh.

SSP Javid Ahmad Kou, AIG Buildings PHQ, has been posted as SSP CID headquarters.

SSP Altaf Ahmad Khan, awaiting orders after return from UN Mission, has been posted as Commandant of 7th battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP).
