Press Trust of India Jammu
National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure regularisation of all daily wagers, casual and seasonal workers serving under it since March 1995.

"We appeal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to formulate a comprehensive policy for regularisation of daily wagers, casual and seasonal workers engaged in different departments of the state after March 1995," NMC President, Subash Shastri, told a rally here.

"The new regularisation policy should be effected before Sept. 1 so that it becomes operational from Gandhi Jayanti (on Oct. 2) as a gift for the working class," he said.

He also demanded that the monthly emoluments for daily wagers be raised to Rs 10,000 in view of the sharp inflation.

Stressing on the need for the immediate appointment of the chairman and other members of the 7th Pay Commission, Shastri urged the Centre to arrive at a decision in that regard at the next meeting of the Union cabinet.
