J-K govt to hire placement firms for police dept vacancies

Jammu and Kashmir government today decided to engage private placement firms to facilitate recruitments in the police department at non-gazetted level, an official said here.

"In a landmark decision that shall have a bearing on the process of future recruitments in the State, the J-K government today decided to engage reputed placement firms to make recruitments in the police department at non-gazetted level to fill nearly 4,000 posts lying vacant at various levels" an official spokesperson said.

He said that the government will hire the "most reputed" placement firms with proven track-record to recruit the best available talent in a fair and transparent manner.
 

"The government took this decision to fill up the posts in the shortest possible time to improve functioning of the police department" the spokesperson said, adding that Home Department has been asked to take necessary steps in this regard.

"The state government is also mulling to adopt similar mechanism for recruitments in the Fire and Emergency Services Department" he said.

The decision comes a day after the state government introduced a new contractual recruitment policy for appointment against gazetted and non-gazetted vacancies.
