HSCC, a Government of India enterprise, will be part of future health care projects in the state for providing quality infrastructure and services, Commissioner-Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said while chairing a meeting of the state health department yesterday.

In the meeting, approval was given for work to begin on two medical facilities, a maternity and a children's hospital, sanctioned by the state government at Bemina in Srinagar.

While Rs 50 crore for the maternity hospital would be provided by the central government, the state government would foot the Rs 60 crore bill for the construction of the child-care facility. The two hospitals are to be interlinked and would have several common facilities for the convenience of patients.

The plans for the proposed hospitals had been discussed at length and suggestions made by HSCC experts incorporated, Dwivedi said here.

He asked the experts to closely monitor work on these projects on regular basis to ensure judicious use of funds and quality standards.

The soil testing and ground work has already been completed for the two projects, he said.
