National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS) is being launched in January 2013 to link all blocks, districts of the state with a nodal central agency for better monitoring and control of trans-boundary diseases among animals, an official spokesman said here today.
The NADRS, implemented by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries through the National Informatics Centre (NIC), will enable veterinary authorities to closely monitor, control and eradicate animal diseases, particularly those of a trans-boundary nature.
Around 143 animal diseases scheduled in the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009 are included in this reporting system.
A proposal to have as many as 71 mobile veterinary centres in the state along with creation of 214 posts and a scheme to fit GPS to mobile ambulatory vehicles has been sanctioned, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, milk production in the state has gone up to 19.64 lakh tonnes last year from 16.22 lakh tonnes in 2008-2009, the spokesman said.
1.94 lakh female calves have been added to milk pool by the end of 2012, he said adding, that a scheme to benefit 36,000 BPL families under rural poultry backyard programme has also been launched.
Mutton production has also increased to about 300 lakh kgs last year and wool production to about 75 lakh kgs, he said.
