The objective of launching KCC is to support farmers and revive their socio economic condition, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir said in a function on the occasion of Kisan Divas organised by J&K Agriculture Entrepreneurship Development Association.
A Kisan Welfare Board, constituted by the government, acts as a bridge between farmers and the government, he said.
Referring to the demand of buffer stocking of fertilisers and setting up of Seed Corporation in the state, Mir said steps are being taken to find out ways and means so that farmers get its stock at right time.
Minister for Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma said the government will implement Agriculture Procedure Marketing Committee Act in the state to improve facilities for the farmers.
He said the government will address all the pending issues of farmers in a phased manner.
The government was setting up fruit and vegetable mandis at district and tehsil levels for the facilities of farmers, the minister said.
He said Narwal mandi, which is a prominent market of Jammu, will be upgraded and an expansion plan has been approved to add another 150 kanals to it.
