The Jammu and Kashmir government today directed the Revenue Department to submit a comprehensive proposal for providing land at safer places for the people affected due to cross-border firing in the state.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah late last night, an official spokesman said.
"The Cabinet directed the Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Department to submit a comprehensive proposal to it for providing five marlas of land per family in safer zones, adjacent to the present villages, to the people affected due to cross border and cross LoC (Line of Control) firing in the state," the spokesman said.

The cabinet also authorized the department for determining geographical limits of new and existing administrative units in the state, he said.
The departments has been advised to complete the necessary exercise and place the case before the Cabinet in its next meeting for consideration.
