"The excise department is in the process of affixation of security holograms on liquor bottles in a time-bound manner which will greatly help check smuggled and illicit liquor in the market, if any", Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather said.
The minister appreciated the department for completing the process of affixation of security holograms on liquor bottles in a time-bound manner.
"By the end of July, 2012, the production of liquor at local distilleries and bottling plants will be done by affixing holograms", he said adding this will also boost the revenue of the state like other states which have implemented the holograms on liquor bottles.
Rather stressed on strict enforcement and checking of violations adding that better coordination is required at all levels to improve the enforcement activities of the department.
He asked the officers to conduct raids and check attempts towards evasion of excise and toll revenue.
As many as 222 persons were arrested in 3,276 raids and 75,910 kgs of illict liquor destroyed during the year, Excise Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir Vineeta Gupta said here.

The Jammu and Kashmir Excise department has launched a crusade against illicit liquor and distillation of local made liquor in the state.
The excise department has also recovered a penalty of Rs 27.23 lakh from the offenders, she said.
