Noting that unemployment is one of the biggest challenges before the Jammu and Kashmir government, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather has said recruitment process will be fast tracked this year to generate more job opportunities in the state.

"The employment generation and recruitment process is being further fast tracked during the current year and its impact will be visible on ground shortly," he said at a public meeting in Chadoora area of Budgam district yesterday.

Expressing concern for fewer job avenues for youths in the state, Rather said bringing a smile on the gloomy faces of unemployed youth was the prime goal of the present government.

"Employment potential in public, self-employment as well as private sectors is being exploited optimally to create ample job avenues for the unemployed youth of the State," the Minister said.

The number of unemployed youth in the state has reached to about six lakh as per the figures available with different Employment and Counselling centres of the State, Rather observed, adding that "the entire government machinery is working overtime to seek solution to the unemployment problem.
